1925 Liberty Silver Dollar: Brief History
The Peace Silver Dollar was minted between 1921 and 1934 and again from 1935 to 1945, this coin was minted in Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. On December 15, Baker, de Francisci, and Moore met in Washington. Baker explained that he hoped to start Peace dollar production in 1921, but needed design changes to be made by then.
Among these design changes was the inclusion of the broken sword from the sculptor’s alternate reverse design, to be placed under the eagle, on top of the mountaintop on which it stands. Baker approved these modifications, subject to those changes.
